Beggi the Hippo in search of friends, Tbilisi Georgia
In 2015 I received an invitation from the Book Art Center en Tbilisi Book days to do a community art project. As subject I took the terrible flood what happened some months before. A lot of inhabitants of the city lost their houses, animals or lives that night. During the Tbilisi Book days I asked the Georgian children to make Beggi some new friends so he feels less lonely. In this way the kids learned that they also can do something. Even its small. More information about the flood.
Background
In 2015 I received a phonecall of one of my Georgian friends. He told me that everything underneath his flat was washed away. Because of the heavy rain a mudflow was created what too anything on his way. Houses were washed away and animals from the zoo were walking freely through the town.
This absurd situation asked for help so I decied to make a serie of silkscreen prints to collect a small amount of money for the victims. (humans and animals)
